Uniplan again reports double-digit growth

Live communication agency plans investments in Germany and China

Uniplan, one of the leading agencies for live communication, again grew strongly in the last financial year 2005/2006 (ending July 31st). Turnover in the company’s core business areas trade shows and events increased by 18% to a total of €71.2m (FY 2004/2005: €60.3m). Of this, Uniplan generated €50.6m in Europe (€43.3m) and €20.6m in Asia (€16.8m).

In the competitive German market, agency turnover in the trade show area increased by 15%, event turnover doubled compared to the previous year. Earnings before tax of €1.7m did not match the previous year (€4.6m). This was mainly due to high restructuring costs in France and Hungary. Especially the development of the Paris office lagged well behind expectations. As a consequence of this, Uniplan closed its office in Paris. For the financial year 2006/2007 the agency expects group turnover to reach the level of the previous year but with profitability again up to previous levels.

“We are still consistently on our growth path”, explains Christian Brühe, Uniplan owner and CEO. “We are focusing on profitable country markets. As investment areas of the future, Germany and China are a top priority for Uniplan.” The agency will open a new branch in Munich in the next weeks, that will add to the Cologne/Kerpen and Stuttgart branches in Germany. A further production site in Dongguan, southern China, is due to come online in autumn.

Uniplan has 500 employees worldwide and apart from the locations already mentioned has European branches in Basel/Switzerland and Budapest/Hungary, as well as subsidiaries in Beijing, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Taipei. Uniplan’s customers include leading companies and brands such as BMW, DaimlerChrysler, Honda, Lexus, Suzuki, Toshiba, Dentsu, Koelnmesse, Sony PlayStation, ZDF, Arcor, Altana and L’Oréal.
