German exhibition industry on a stable path for 2007

Activities of German organisers abroad grow significantly

The trade fairs, having taken place during the first months of 2007 in Germany, have in most cases shown increase in their figures. Already more than one fifth of the total exhibition space is sold by German organizers when carrying out their own events abroad.

For the first time since 2001 more than 10 mill visitors are expected at the 141 international trade shows in Germany (around 10.3 mill). The exhibition space, rented by the 163,000 exhibitors in the running year, will amount to 6.5 mill sqm.

19 German exhibition organisers, being member of AUMA, the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry, plan more than 220 own exhibitions abroad for 2007. Major target markets are China (68), Russia (32), the United Arab Emirates (17) and India (13).

In the previous year 2006 at 198 German events abroad 71,000 exhibitors covered a rented space of 1.8 mill sqm; 4.7 mill visitors attended these events. Thus German organisers sold altogether 8.3 mill sqm of exhibition space, thereof already some 21.6 % abroad.
