Losberger trusted Partner for Mega-Event in Beijing 2008

This years Olympic Games had been planned by the Chinese government as nothing less than a monumental event to display the grandeur of a nation on its way to becoming another global super power on site and in the media.

The Beijing Olympic Committee of the Olympic Games (BOCOG) assigned with the first level organisation alone had more than 4,000 employees. Every aspect of society had been geared towards the staging of this global presentation for years and it is widely agreed that the nation’s efforts were rewarded with highly successful Olympic Games. Athletes, visitors and VIP’s from politics, economy and entertainment came to Beijing from all around the world and were positively startled by what they were seeing.

Integral part of this success story was the Losberger Group, whose product portfolio ranges from simple party tents to temporary tent ensembles for large-scale events to semi-permanent buildings and permanent structures for production, showrooms and storage.

BOCOG had been looking for partners and suppliers who provide dependable service and comprehensive support in order to avoid any more problems in what has to be called a gigantic project.

A challenging project set up the excellent reputation of Losberger and quality products that speak for themselves led to the signing of a contract accounting for a total of 920 Losberger tents in varying shapes and sizes for the Beijing event. The company’s presence in China through its Shanghai subsidiary and performances at world class events such as the Soccer World Cup 2006 are considered as triggers for the signing. The supply schedule had been tight, leaving no more than a maximum of 3 month to deliver temporary buildings and tents to representative locations such as the Beijing National Stadium “Bird’s Nest” or the fascinating Olympic swimming facility, the “Water Cube”.

Despite the time pressure, Losberger supplied a total tent space of 120,000 sqm installed at 42 competition and 27 training sites. Not only simple and practical tent solutions were demanded by BOCOG, but highly sophisticated and representative semi-permanent buildings to host functionaries and important sponsors, too. Losberger was up to any challenge presented to them by the high-expecting Chinese officials and thereby became integral part of the Beijing Olympic Games 2008 placing its structures at world-famous locations, such as Tiananmen Square or in front of the Great Wall of China.
