Despite the economic crisis 8.26 million participants came to Berlin to attend 108,500 events in 2009.
Thus the convention destination Berlin sustained a leading position in the global ranking.
The prevalent three sectors holding conventions and congresses in the German capital were the medical and the pharmaceutical sector as well as the communication industries. The average duration of an event amounted to 1.7 days.
